Privacy Policy
Pilot version. Ani-Q is being tested with a small group of users; this document will be reviewed and updated before public launch.
In short. Ani-Q connects animal owners in the UAE with licensed vets and livestock transport providers. To do that we need your phone number, where your animals are, and details of the emergency. We share your exact location only with the vet or driver who accepts your request, or the vet or clinic that confirms your planned visit. We do not sell your data and we do not use advertising or tracking tools. You can download your data or delete your account at any time in the app.
1. Who we are
Ani-Q (آني كيو) is operated by Ibrahim Al Dubaili, an individual based in the United Arab Emirates ("Ani-Q", "we", "us"). We decide how and why your personal data is used for the Ani-Q app and website, and we are responsible for it.
Contact for privacy questions and requests: privacy@ani-q.ae.
This policy follows the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data.
2. What we collect and why
| Data | Why we need it | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile number | Sign-in with a one-time SMS code; so the vet or driver handling your request can call you. | Contract (to provide the service) |
| Name, language choice | To identify you to the vet or driver; to send messages in your language. | Contract |
| Farms and homes: name, emirate, area, GPS position, directions, on-site contact name and number | So help can find your animals. The on-site contact is called instead of you when you add one; tell that person you have shared their number. | Contract |
| Animals and health records (species, name, tag, breed, sex, date of birth, microchip, official ID and import papers, vaccinations, treatments, breeding records including insemination details, sales). For falcons: ring number, falcon passport number with issue and expiry dates, CITES certificate number | Your records, reminders (including before a falcon passport expires), and information for the vet you choose. Ani-Q only keeps your copy of these numbers; passports and permits are issued by the authorities. | Contract |
| Farm holding registration number; your own notes that you reported a suspected disease to the authorities | To print on your records and remind you what you reported. Ani-Q does not send anything to authorities on your behalf. | Contract |
| Emergency requests: description, photos, voice notes, location at the time, messages with the vet, outcome notes written by the vet | To find a vet, let them prepare, and keep a record of the case. | Contract; vital interests of the animal's owner where urgent |
| Transport requests: animals, number, destination, notes | To find a truck and let the driver plan the trip. | Contract |
| Planned (non-emergency) vet visits: visit type, day and time window, chosen animals or number of head, note, preferred vet, the agreed time, the vet's summary, your star rating and comment | To find a vet or partner clinic near you for the visit, agree the time, remind both sides and keep a record of the visit. | Contract |
| Lost-pet reports and sightings: photo, description, last-seen area and position, notes | To show the report on the community map and pass sightings to the owner. | Consent (you choose to publish a report) |
| Community reports (injured or stray animals, feeding stations): photo, position, note | To pass the report to the right authority or organisation. | Consent |
| Vets: licence details and licence photo, qualification, workplace, species and emergencies handled, availability | To verify you are licensed before you receive emergencies; to match you to suitable cases. | Contract; legal obligation (only licensed vets may practise) |
| Truck owners: company or personal details, trade licence, vehicle plate and registration document, species carried | To verify you before you receive jobs. | Contract |
| Vets and drivers: live position | Vets: while available, rounded to about 1 km (to find the nearest vet); exact while on the way to an emergency or a planned visit (so the owner can see you coming). Drivers: during a job only. Never collected when you are off. | Consent, given in the app; you can switch availability off at any time |
| Device data: push-notification token, app version, phone model, operating system version, crash reports | To send alerts and to fix faults. Crash reports contain no names, numbers or locations. | Legitimate interest in a working, secure service |
| Records of what you agreed to, and a log of important actions | To show that consent was given and to keep the service secure. | Legal obligation; legitimate interest |
We do not collect your contacts, photos you have not chosen to send, or your position when the app is closed (except for vets and drivers as described above). We do not use advertising identifiers, analytics or tracking tools, and we do not sell personal data.
Records PDFs and spreadsheets you export are made on your phone. You decide who to share them with; they are your own record, not official certificates.
3. Who sees your data
- The vet who accepts your emergency sees your name, number (or your on-site contact), the exact location, directions, the description, photos and voice notes. Vets who are only offered the case see the animal, the problem, your description, any photos or voice notes, the area and the distance, but not your name, number or exact location.
- Planned visits: vets and partner clinics near you who are told about the request see the visit type, the animals or number of head, the day and time window, your note, the area and the distance, but not your name, number or exact location. The vet or clinic that confirms the visit sees your name, number, exact location and directions, and later the stars you give (not your comment).
- The driver who accepts your transport request sees your name, number (or your on-site contact), the pickup location, directions and the destination.
- You see the name, number and, while they are on the way, the position of the vet or driver who accepted, or of the vet coming to your planned visit.
- Partner clinics and hospitals receive an emergency when no individual vet is available, with the same details a vet would see. They can also take planned visits, as above.
- Ani-Q operations staff see requests and accounts to dispatch, verify vets and drivers, and handle support. Access is limited to staff who need it.
- Authorities: community reports are passed to the relevant municipality or authority (report, photo and location; your name and number only if the authority needs to contact you). We also disclose data when UAE law requires it. Links to government services open the authority's own website; what you submit there is between you and that authority.
- Service providers who process data for us under contract (section 4).
4. Service providers and storage outside the UAE
| Provider | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase Inc. | Database, file storage and sign-in | Tokyo, Japan (cloud infrastructure by Amazon Web Services) |
| SMS delivery provider | Sends sign-in codes by SMS. During the pilot, sign-in codes are given to testers directly and no SMS provider is used; the provider will be named here before SMS sign-in is switched on. | To be named |
| Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) | Delivers notifications to your phone (on iPhone through Apple's push service) | Global |
| Apple (Apple Push Notification service, Apple Maps) | iPhone only: delivers notifications and shows maps; Apple Maps receives the map area shown, not your account | Global |
| OpenStreetMap tile servers | Android only: show map images; they receive your device's internet address and the map area shown, not your account | Global |
Our database is hosted outside the UAE because our providers do not yet offer UAE hosting. When you accept this policy in the app you give your explicit consent to this transfer. We choose providers with strong security and contractual data-protection commitments, and we will move hosting to the UAE when a suitable option is available.
5. How long we keep data
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Your account, farms, animals and records | Until you delete them or your account |
| Planned visits | With your account. If you delete your account, open visits are cancelled and your notes and comments are removed |
| Licence and truck documents | While valid; deleted 90 days after they are replaced, rejected, expired or the account is suspended |
| Lost-pet photos | Deleted 90 days after the report is closed |
| Notifications | 180 days |
| Push tokens | Deleted after 180 days without use, or at sign-out or account deletion |
| Live positions | Only the latest position is kept; it is cleared within a day once the vet or driver is no longer working |
| Crash reports | 180 days |
| Emergency and transport records, consent records, security log | 5 years, for veterinary records, disputes and legal obligations. If you delete your account they are kept without your name, number or exact location. |
6. Your rights
You can:
- Get a copy of your data: Settings → Privacy and your data → Download my data (a machine-readable file).
- Correct your data: edit it in the app, or contact us.
- Delete your account: Settings → Delete my account, or the web page if you no longer have the app.
- Withdraw consent: close a lost-pet report, switch availability off (vets and drivers), or delete your account. Withdrawing consent does not affect what was done before.
- Object or restrict processing, and complain to the UAE Data Office.
We answer requests within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity, for example by a call to your registered number.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access is controlled by account role, and every change to an emergency goes through checks on our server. Files such as licences are stored privately and shown only through short-lived links. Staff access is logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach puts you at risk we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
8. Children
Ani-Q accounts are for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes
When we change this policy we publish the new version here with a new version number, and the app asks you to accept it before you continue.
